The first silver coin to be minted in Imperial China in the late 1800's was imported from machinery made in Birmingham, England. They were called 'Dragon Dollars'.
The Dragon Dollar was then produced & circulated in 18th and early 19th century China, in an effort to improve trade between East and West as the world entered a new era of globalisation. Often, it reminds us of our very own family story.
The inscription around the top reads: 3 MACE AND 4 CANDAREENS - the old unit of measurement in Imperial China, which converts to 12.84 Grams (the total weight of the ring).
