INTRODUCING: SOBEK
Lord of Crocodiles, SOBEK was a deity in the Egyptian Pantheon. With a human body, and head of a crocodile, Egyptian sects believed SOBEK created order in the universe and the world when he arose from the 'Dark Water' of creation, and it was he who manifested the Nile River.
The Nile Crocodile is one of the oldest animals in the world. A keystone species, these reptiles swam the spans of the longest river in the world, the Nile.
Keeping in line with our REBIRTH release last year, our May Rarity pays reverence to these Egyptian dinosaurs. Green was a sacred colour, associated with the annual flooding by the Nile, and malachite was a symbol of resurrection and new life. We created SOBEK, a depiction of the Nile Crocodile, as tribute to these powerful creatures. In rippling silver scales, SOBEK is set with two of May’s traditional birthstones: the Emerald.
